Why I love And Other Stories…

There are some great new brands around at the moment offering value for money and original modern design. Today, I profile & Other Stories, a Swedish brand in the H & M group. They have a unique selling point  – it’s all about the story. Ingeniously if a dress from the ready-to-wear collection takes your fancy, as if by magic bags, shoes, lingerie, beauty and accessories pop up at the bottom of the page which are matched with the dress, to create a particular story. The focus on the whole look is a great marketing technique – by linking other products sales are increased and the customer saves times on choosing accessories – a win-win situation.

I love it as its bang on trend and the go-to choice for buyers and designers in the industry. Another plus point is the ateliers in Stockholm and Paris, creating diverse Scandinavian and French designs for the modern woman who likes clean lines and quirky details. There’s a great balance of masculine and feminine tailoring and a huge product range.

Ready-to-Wear

With almost 1,400 items in the RTW collection at any one time, the sheer diversity of the collections is mind blowing. Right now the Spring knits are particularly strong  – fringed, bobbled, on-trend holes, Breton stripes, feather print and Merino wool. Loose wide legged tailored trousers and midi skirts, colour block dresses, laser cut tops and masculine jackets are also prevalent.

Shoes

I adore & other stories shoes. I’m prepared to shout this from the rooftops. The pure originality of design, deconstructed lines, heel range, choice of materials and sheer quirkiness is enough to send me into a small spin every time I log on to the site.  I love the wedges in a variety of different colours with a wiggly edge. They also have Nike Air Free 5.OV4 (£80) which are the lightest and funkiest Nikes around.

Bags

This season’s bag range includes on-trend bucket bags, graphic quirky clutches, satchels and some original materials – such as the wood bag below. High quality combined with up to the minute trends mean that finding a bag for any occasion is easy. Their minimalist shoulder bags are great for work, with intricately designed evening bags to add a twist to the classic LBD.

Accessories

& Other Stories jewellery is edgy, contemporary and achingly cool.    The new range features charm bracelets and rings, chunky cuffs, chains and woven metal, and A LOT of brass. The pieces are perfect to complement a minimalist block colour look, such as the hand bracelet below. I’ll be getting the brass circle ring below – it’s gorgeous.

Lingerie

No ugly big pants here. The range is elegant, classic and modern sexy with a couple of quirky sets thrown in for good measure. I especially like the new Tarot card bra and knickers set, and the soft lace sets are great for everyday wear. They also have a massive range of socks and tights, and do cool collaborations for their loungewear collections (Claire Judge).

Beauty

Their own brand beauty range is perfectly packaged. I love the nail colours, mini hand creams and hand soaps. The lipsticks and glosses come in every colour under the sun, same for the eye colours in metallic and matte shades. They also sell Eyeko mascara and eyeliner (recently advertised by Ms Chung). The quad eye colour palettes are great value at £12, and the Total Tint stick is a great multi-purpose product for eyes, lips and cheeks. The matching Body Souffles, Body Scrubs, Body Mists and Body Washes smell and feel divine on the skin. They also sell USL airlines nail polish and some products from the This Works range, and have a great makeup brush range. With foundation and concealer sticks as well, you can find pretty much everything you need at great prices here. The products also make great gifts – as its a newish brand the lucky person would be getting something different and lovely.

The only downside to all this is the £6 postage charge, which is a good reason to order a load of stuff at once! If you want a brand that’s a little left of centre and different to the high street, look no further than & Other Stories.
