I was extremely excited about Galliano’s appointment at MMM after a long hiatus following his personal troubles. Yes, what he did was pretty bad, but his talent and track record cannot be disputed. He is one of the most talented designers on the planet, and his fall from grace was difficult for fashion fans to watch. Yesterday it was announced that his first show for Maison Martin Margiela would be in London on January 12, during London Collections, Men.
This will be his first show since his final Dior show in 2011, and only one hundred very lucky industry folk will be present ( I would KILL to be there). His decision makes sense, as he first started out in London and is related to the city’s tailoring history and heritage. Should we expect out of the world, out there tailoring? I think we can. I can only imagine what the outcome of his research of the MMM archives and his own beautiful spin on it will produce.
