Vogue documentary marks 100 years as fashion’s bible

After 100 years at the top of the pile as the UK’s go to magazine for everything that embodies style, it seems only right that British Vogue’s centenary is celebrated with an all access TV documentary. The two part series will give an in depth insight into the inner workings of Vogue, both in the office and on location. We will get to see how editors decide what will be included in the next issue, and find out more about the staff and key people involved. Viewers also will get a fly-on-the-wall look at international Fashion Weeks. The documentary is being filmed by Lightbox, who are also behind the excellent Man on Wire (about a French tight rope walker who walked between the Twin Towers). Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue emphasised the uniqueness of the project – “We have never previously agreed to allow the cameras into the magazine but 100 years seems a fitting time to demonstrate what a powerful and exciting force Vogue is.” Aside from the glamour and big personalities, what an opportunity to delve deeper into the bigger questions such as the impact of British Vogue on global fashion and the role fashion plays today in the UK. The documentary follows 2013’s The September Issue, a film which documented life at US Vogue, featuring the complicated working relationship between Editor Anna Wintour and Creative Director Grace Coddington.
The documentary will air on the BBC in 2016.
