Cool Mother’s Day gifts for hip Mums

If your Mum’s anything like mine, she gets a bit bored with the usual chocolates/flowers combo. Here’s some ideas I’ve come across whilst trying to find the perfect gift for my cool Mama!

Under £10

Make her smile with The Mum…
The Mum by Penguin – £3.49
I love these Ladybird books for modern times, they parody the books we had as kids which made everything so simple. The Mum highlights the challenges and occasional downright ridiculousness of modern day motherhood, and like the others books in the series such as The Hipster and The Shed it’s laugh out loud funny. If your Mum’s in need of a pick-me-up (and isn’t a gin fan) this is a great Mother’s Day gift.

Celebrate her inner Wonder Woman…

Wonder woman Biscuit by the Biscuiteers – £9.95

I know you might think a tenner is a bit much for a biscuit, but by the time you’ve spent a fiver on a card you might aswell do something a bit different and get a biscuit instead of a card! I love The Biscuiteers for special occasions –  this gingerbread Wonder woman flies in in her own hand-illustrated gingerbread house gift box!

Celebrate her uniqueness with a personalised illustration…

A5 Custom Portrait by Kayley Draws £15.00
Everyone secretly would like someone to give them an illustration of themselves as a gift – it appeals to our hidden narcissist. It’s also handy if she’s trying to set up a blog! You could include yourself in it to make it super cute. Kayleigh Mills’ designs are gorgeous, she’ll also include little details personal to your mum such as her fave hobbies or things!

She’ll be walking on air after this pamper session…

Please forgive me plugging my own business but this Mother’s Day package is amazing if I do say so myself! I’m also an holistic therapist in Newcastle and I’ve put together a Mother’s Day pamper package to give your mum the pamper session she deserves! A one hour full body aromatherapy massage is tailored to her mood on the day, and followed by a thirty minute Neal’s Yard anti-ageing Frankincense facial to rejuvenate the skin.

Bring out her inner David Bailey…

Diana Mini Monte Rosa Camera – £99
Fuji Instax Mini 8 – £64.95

Nudge your mum towards a new hobby with these cool cameras. The Diana Mini Monte Rosa Lomography camera is a limited edition 35mm camera enables you to take gorgeous soft-focus photos; the winter wonderland theme will appeal to creative mums. For a simpler approach, how about the Fuji instax? She can create instant photos and make great family collages! If you’re nice you can also borrow them for your own projects!

Appeal to her inner diva…

Christian Lacroix scarf £80.00

I’m loving the Christian Lacroix scarves at Liberty right now, they’re so bright and life-affirming and will definitely perk up winter knits. Your mum can wear them to stand out or tie them around her handbag handle. It goes without saying that you’ll want to swipe it occasionally, so everyone wins.
